Keeping up with your 2013 intentions!
Were your intentions for 2013 to stay fit? How are you doing? Here are some quick exercises you can do almost anywhere!Squats- Not only does this powerhouse move work your legs, but also lower back, pelvis and ultimately your entire core. Start with 10 reps and do 3 sets with little rest in between. Work your way up to 20 reps with 3-4 sets with little rest! *You can always make these harder by doing a jump squat, or holding light (5-15lbs) dumbbells To learn how/ make sure you are doing your squats correctly, click here
Mountain Climbers- I think these are a great core exercise without actually doing a sit-up or crunch! You can do different variations of them to work different core muscle groups. Start with 10 (5 each leg) and increase to as many as you can. Another good way to do these is to try and do as many as you can in a certain amount of time. Start off with 15 seconds and work your way up to 30 seconds, 45 and so on! Here is a video of how to do a mountain climber
Push Ups- This is one of my least favorite exercises but very efficient! Push Ups can be intimidating at first so if you need to start on your knees don’t be ashamed! (Just make sure you have the proper form) Click here for how to do a proper push up Jump Rope- It is not just for girls at recess anymore! Jumping rope can be a really effective work out and way to burn calories! Start by jumping for a minute, then resting for a minute and try to get up to 5-10 minutes. After 1 minute is easy for you, increase your time without rest! You can combine jumping rope with the other exercises! Set an interval timer (free app on a lot of phones) Try to jump rope for 30 seconds, rest for 10, squats for the 30 seconds, rest for 10 and repeat 3 times ! Plank- This move is great for your core and tightening your whole body! Try to hold it for 20 seconds and work your way up! Make sure to keep your back nice and straight and core engaged!
