Maintenance Mechanic

SUMMARY

The maintenance mechanic is responsible for maintaining, repairing, installing, and updating all bakery process equipment, automated packaging equipment, and general plant machinery. Some maintenance on the building structure and related fixtures at the bakery may be required.

Detailed Description

  • Performs assigned preventive maintenance tasks on bakery equipment including automated packaging equipment and ovens.
  • Performs scheduled maintenance on plant equipment.
  • Responds to and corrects equipment stoppage/mechanical breakdowns in a timely manner. Trouble shoots whenever necessary.
  • Repairs and replaces worn, defective parts, motors, control devices, etc.
  • Operates shop equipment and makes required parts as needed.
  • Maintains Inventory of spare parts and tools.
  • Serves on Safety Team
  • Follows GMPs and food safety practices.
  • Ability to work various days, hours and shifts including night or weekend “on call” rotations.

      JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for performing maintenance and sanitation activities under the direction of the maintenance manager. Must follow all company GMPs, SSOPs, and maintenance procedures when performing these tasks. Maintains maintenance chemical storage area, ensuring segregation between any food grade and non-food grade chemicals. Must follow all chemical control procedures.

      Expected to learn Basic Good Manufacturing Practices and Hygiene, Work Instructions for assigned work area, Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures for assigned work area, Standard Operating Procedures for assigned work area, Safety Procedures for assigned work area, and Quality at the Source testing and documentation procedures for assigned work area.

      AREA CLEANLINESS: Ensure that all areas are being cleaned daily and trash removed.

      PRODUCT SAFETY: Follows Bakery On Main’s GMP, SSOPs, and maintenance policies.

      BACK UP: Other Maintenance employees

      QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to work independently and as a team player. The right candidate will be able to work efficiently and effectively in all aspects of the position and be able to make any necessary judgment call in the absence of the Operations Manager.

      EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

      Two-year degree, college or technical school, or equivalent combination of 3 to 5 years related experience in manufacturing.

      PHYSICAL DEMANDS

      Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
