May is National Celiac Awareness Month!
“Celiac disease is an autoimmune disorder that can occur in genetically predisposed people where the ingestion of gluten leads to damage in the small intestine. It is estimated to affect 1 in 100 people worldwide. Two and one-half million Americans are undiagnosed and are at risk for long-term health complications.” – celiac.org
Here at Bakery On Main we take gluten very seriously. We have a dedicated gluten free facility and perform in house testing on every batch. This ensures all of our products are certified gluten free to GFCO standards. We enjoy being a safe reliable product to our celiac customers! We also want to make sure our customers and people that stop by our site are getting the correct information and have plenty of information from on our resources pages
Here are some great things bloggers and the NFCA are doing this month to spread the Celiac Awareness!
Erica from Celiac and the Beast recently took a trip to the National Foundation for Celiac Awareness Research Summit. She has shared NFCA’s PSA “Seriously Celiac” and shared how to talk with our friends, family members about getting tested.
Visit Gluten Dude’s website and share your story(and photo) to be placed on a separate page to show people Celiac Disease is affecting real people (not just a fad diet to joke about on TV)
