GFCO Gluten-Free Certification
Gluten-free certification assures consumers that there is a third-party overseeing a company’s production, confirming the validity of the manufacturer’s gluten-free claims. GFCO performs audits of ingredients and suppliers by implementing regular on-site inspections and by monitoring testing results to ensure that all required standards are met. One of the standards a company needs to achieve in order to be able to use the GFCO logo on their finished products includes that no products can contain any more than 10ppm of gluten. GFCO certified products are also not allowed to include any barley-based ingredients. GFCO also requires continued testing of finished products and high-risk raw materials and equipment. Bakery on Main happily holds this certification and willing complies with the requirements of an annual inspection and requirement to submit finished product testing regularly for the GFCO to review.

“The Non-GMO Project is a non-profit organization committed to preserving and building sources of non-GMO products, educating consumers, and providing verified non-GMO choices”.
The Non-GMO Project uses a process and product-based program to verify a company’s compliance with the Non-GMO Project Standards in order to be able to say that a company is NON-GMO Project Verified. The main requirements a company must meet in order to be verified are traceability of GMOs, segregation practices, and testing of high-risk ingredients at critical control points. This process to verify a company’s compliance with the NON-GMO Project Standards is handled by independent, third-party technical administrators who will make the determination about a company and their products. Bakery On Main makes sure all ingredients are Non-GMO and proudly holds this certification.

“Organic is a labeling term that indicates that the food or other agricultural product has been produced through approved methods. The organic standards describe the specific requirements that must be verified by a USDA-accredited certifying agent before products can be labeled USDA organic.”
The National Organic Program (NOP) develops the rules & regulations for the production, handling, labeling, and enforcement of all USDA organic products. This process, referred to as rulemaking, involves input from the National Organic Standards Board (a Federal Advisory Committee made up of fifteen members of the public) and the public. The NOP also maintains a Handbook that includes guidance, instructions, policy memos, and other documents that communicate the organic standards.

OU Kosher Parve
This symbol represents Bakery On Main’s compliance with the standards of its products being Orthodox Union Kosher certified. The process for this verification includes ensuring all ingredients used are acceptable and kosher through careful review and research to make sure all sources that supply raw materials are acceptable. The process then establishes the specific products that will bear the OU symbol and reviews the actual equipment used to make the products. A Rabbinic Field Representative will then visit the plant intermittently to ensure all previous steps have been met to solidify and continue the certification. All Bakery On Main products proudly carry the OU symbol.

SQF Level 3 Certification
This symbol represent Bakery On Main’s SQF Certification. SQF stands for the Safe Quality Food Program and is considered to be a rigorous and credible food safety management system that integrates quality and food safety. Bakery on Main proudly hold a level 3 certification with the SQF. This level is a “comprehensive implementation of safety and quality management systems” that incorporates level 2’s certified HACCP food safety plan, benchmarked by GFSI. This certification requires a multi-day audit of a company’s processes and facility to make sure that every requirement is met to the fullest. Bakery On Main underwent this audit and continues to comply with the standards needed to continue to proudly display this certification.

Avena Purity Protocol Oats
Processing of Avena Foods’ Purity protocol oats is a ‘start safe, stay safe’ approach where resources are focused on preventing contamination from the field to the food ingredient. Key elements include:
-Using pure Pedigreed Seeds
-Growing Oats in fields not rotated with gluten containing grains
-Inspection of fields for rogue gluten-grains
-Using a dedicated gluten-free milling facility and equipment with a strong sanitation program
-Visually inspecting and analytical testing of the oats
-Controlling and inspecting transportation throughout the chain
